“BH: “How has your life changed since Eclipse?”

JF: “Well, my life has changed quite a bit, and in a lot of ways it stays the same. I’m still just, you know, a normal girl who enjoys hanging out with friends doing regular things. But, I mean I wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t been for Twilight. I’ve been doing all sorts of conventions, meeting a lot of fans. It’s just so much fun.”

BH: “Do you have any memorable moments from being on Eclipse?”

JF: “Well, I think honestly the whole movie was pretty memorable. Actually, I did have my 15th birthday on set, so that was pretty cool.”

BH: “Did you get a cake?”

JF: “Yeah I did. I had a birthday cake on set. And I mean that is pretty much every girls dream to have,” she smiles and laughs, “a birthday party on the set of Twilight. I was so happy that I got to do that. That was really fun.”

In the final "Fansite Fridays" exclusive, Jodelle Ferland ("Bree") talks The Twilight Saga: Eclipse!

Q: We all know that you had a chance to read the ‘Eclipse’ novella, but we were wondering if you got to sit down with Stephenie and go over your character?

Jodelle: I did get to read the book first, which was great. I did talk to Stephenie, but most of the talking I did with David Slade, the director. He sat down and talked with me about the character and the book. So I did most of that with David Slade but I did talk to Stephenie about it too.

Q: You’ve known about the book for a long time, much longer than us. Now that it’s officially been announced and the release date is out there, do you feel different about your character? More excited, more nervous?

Jodelle: When I first got to read the book, I didn’t know what was going to happen with it and I don’t think that Stephenie did either. So when I found out that it was coming out as it’s own book I was really excited. Even though I already knew about it, I was just so excited that my character was getting her own book! I can’t wait for it to come out.

Q: Stephenie Meyer posted a photo on her website of you with a burnt copy of the story. Was the similarity to your character’s fate intentional?

Jodelle: Oh wow, I hadn’t even thought of that! What happened was I read the story, and then we were supposed to get rid of it as soon as I read it. You obviously can’t just throw something like that in the garbage, so we were trying to figure out how we were going to get rid of it. Ripping it up wouldn’t really work, and we didn’t have a shedder or anything. We had a bucket, and some matches! We lit the matches in the bucket and tossed it in! It was quite fun actually. [laughs] Then we sent a picture to Stephenie, to prove it. That actually is a really good point, it relates to vampires and burning.

Q: Bree comes across as wild in the book, because she’s a newborn. How did you tap into that wild, animalistic nature that newborns have?

Jodelle: I’ve never played a vampire before, so it was very different for me. I did have to be familiar with the way that newborns feel, so it helped me a lot that I got to read the book first. So I knew what I was doing, I wasn’t just making things up as I went. I also have read the entire Twilight series, so that definitely helped.

Q; Some of the other Twilight actors felt like it was surreal to be cast as the character they play, then it really set in for them when they got on set. What was the moment that you came to grips with the fact that you’re playing Bree in a ‘Twilight’ movie?

The Chicago Sun Times recently interviewed Eclipse cast members Booboo Stewart (aka Seth Clearwater), Tyson Houseman (aka Quil), and Jodelle Ferland (aka Bree) -

Q. Jodelle, tell us about Stephenie Meyer’s new book about your character, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, coming out Saturday.

JODELLE: I had read the book before I started filming “Eclipse” so that I could understand Bree better and what she went through before she came to what she was in Eclipse. … It’s her back story, so you’ll find out about her, but I can’t tell you much.

Q. Is it true you had to read it under really tight security?

JODELLE: I read it and there’s somebody watching me. It’s not that they don’t trust me, but they just want to, you know, take all the precautions they can. … After I read it, we were supposed to get rid of it, and we didn’t really know how to do that. [We] put it in a bucket. We threw a match in and we burnt it, and then we took a video and a picture and we sent it to Stephenie Meyer. It was so funny.

Q. You’re a new addition to the franchise. How did Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and the others actors welcome you?

JODELLE: It’s always the little things that count, like saying “hi” to me, or saying “Oh, come sit over here, you look lonely.” You know, all those little things that I really appreciated because it made me feel more welcome. … They’re all really nice people.

Q. What’s the fan pressure like for Robert, Kristen and Taylor?

TYSON:You get fan encounters of the craziest kind, but it’s still, they are what drives this whole series, and they are what makes “Twilight” what it is, so it’s really cool to have that at the same time.

Q. BooBoo, what happened when you were punched at a fan event in Vancouver?

BOOBOO: It was messed up. One, another kid on a dare decided to hit me. I wasn’t hurt but … he was held until the police came. Then I went back, and [continued] greeting the fans.

Q. What’s really cool about “Eclipse”?

TYSON: There’s going to be a lot more action. … There’s a very climactic fight scene. There’s an entire war at the end of the movie, and I think it’s going to be a lot more guy-friendly.
